    I dont think Toyota is the only one with these vehicles. Surprise surprise other manufactures have them as well . The Navara of course.

    I wonder what drivetrain these guys are running. I won't risk going into such remote places with wheels that size running on standard gearbox, tranfer case and diffs.

    I think its a 4L engine and i somehow cant see them useing more than 4th gear although Navaras have 6 speed gearboxes. But you are right the tyres can cause havoc with the ratios.
    Some are apparently diesel and use a mixture of diesel and afgas for the cold.

    Here's an interesting ArcticTrucks 35 inch wheel treatment of an 05+ Pathfinder;

    As far as I can tell the fender extensions and possibly the door armor panels are from EGR in England, although not listed on their website;

    In Iceland the Nissan Patrol is a big favourite. As is the Jeep.

    Many don't like the Toyota in Iceland.

    In any case, they fit huge tyres, and change the gearbox and diff gearing to suit.

    Tyres upto 44inch are common...

    In Iceland, 4wdriving is an extreme sport and they are very good at it. 4wd's are not just tested in Australia and Sweden. Iceland is often used for cold weather testing in private.
