Ha ha. I personally think that it means that, on a steep uphill, for every pedal stroke of a 26er, I have to do four.

The bike only has 2 blades (2x10 setup)

True. But those horses are very thirsty.

Fine, I'll admit this in public, but this time only. I went cycling about two weeks ago, and actually enjoyed it! It was all part of Operation Get Fatty Into Shape which started 2 months ago. The Afrisam cycling club has cleared a couple of very fun mountain bike tracks through the bush around the village we stay in, and one of the guys kindly let me use his bike to see if I'd be interested in joining them.

I would never touch tar on a bicycle, as there are hooligans like me on the roads, as well as a constant flow of cement trucks from the factory, but in the bush, at 5:30am just as it's starting to get light, it's a blast.

So, I'm secretly considering being in the market for a beginner bike. The one I rode was a Titan Trail 29er, and I think it suits my needs perfectly. The only competition I'm in is with myself, so I don't see the point in spending a ton of cash on anything fancy.

    2001 Raptor 660 - slightly fiddled with

OK, then I guess it is made with glued joints, rather than being of monocoque construction.

100% correct Mike. I can see you know your bikes or must I rather say bicycles as some people still can't get it that this is the Mountain Biking & Cycling section.

I have nothing against the motorbike guys and is myself a biker, maybe we must ask Dirk to create a Motorbike section for us.

Looking at the number of riders jumping at the opportunity to show their motorbikes, that is a good idea.

Looking at all of these pics I can see why the non cyclist fall of their back when they hear the prices.

Is their any one other than me having a bike that less that R20k?
