My wife and I have precisely the same bikes and we absolutely love them!!

I've just replaced my racing ralph rear tyre with a rocket ron with snakeskin as I cut the side wall on a rocky trail recently.

Really, really great bikes... I'm sure you two enjoy yours too!!!

How is the grip with the Rocket Ron? I love the grip of my Racing Ralph but the rear wears through in no time. And always get Snake Skin. I don't know why they make anything else.

No he doesn't. He has the wrong bike on those pedals. But fortunately he has a (very nice) mountain bike!

I actually prefer it that way ......

I used Look's on my old racer for 20 years, but never liked the plastic cleat system used on them. Put a pair of mountain bike pedals on it, and no problem at all. No need for rubber cleat covers either.

Just to contribute a little on here (I am mostly on TheHubSA forum for bike matters):

Giant Anthem X4 (26er, dual-shock, full XTR parts)

Bought it 2ndhand for R7k (full value is anywhere between R9k and R12k depending on which bike shop I ask for opinion).

Just starting slow, getting accustomed to the MTB fashion.

Now that is a beautiful dual! I'm supposed to get my custom built hardtail (29er) this Saturday, if I like her. If not, a new Silverback it will be.

Well, I broke the chain stay on my bike on Sunday and I'm waiting for feedback from the bike shop. Let's see if Scott honours their guarantee...

Finally got my bike this past Sunday. The custom build was supposed to be built on a large 2013 GT Karakoram 1.0 frame, but I discovered I'm a medium, so I bought a lower spec GT Karakoram Sport from someone else for half the price. Phoned the guy to tell him I'm not taking it and he says no, it's a medium! Little miffed as that bike is way better specced that what I just bought, but so be it. The geometry is great, feels lovely to ride and is just fine for getting my fitness up and my weight down. It's a 29er.

I have one of these but with 650B wheels.
SRAM X0 all round (still 3x9) with Magura brakes.
Recently cost me R1500.00 worth of stitches in my left knee.

Road bike is a Tommasini with SRAM Force and Mavic wheels.

    My 'Frankenbike'.
Built up out of any bits and pieces I could get my grubby little paws on over the past year or so.
Quite chuffed with the way it has turned out, not pretty but damn it has been fun.

looking at all the pics (I'm envious), how come none of the bikes have a bike stand, the type that motor bikes have?
