Pieter here it was rigged up to carry everything I needed to cycle from Jhb to Ct using back roads through the Karoo with minimal tar. I'm scared of cars when not in one myself! I carried a sleeping bag, sleeping mat and emergency bivy bag to sleep in. The trip was in July and I was more than warm enough at night. That all went in the bag on the handlebars. I slept out some nights (just in shelter off the road) and in B and Bs on some. The bag on the saddle was for clothes, spares, tools and a small stove.

I also carried a backpack which was used predominantly for food and water. Great exercise traversing the lesser traveled areas of our country enjoying the phenomenal hospitality of rural folk.

I'm not great with words so I just do twitter @Dave_Bell_ZA We're (my wife and I and a couple of buddies) are doing a trip to Bethulie early in Dec, where we'll ride non-stop from Jhb and then hop on the train to get back. Weekend microadventure

Hmmm... seeing as this is a thread for all the bicycle folk, anyone interested in buying one? I bought this GT Helion Elite from CycleLab in December 2015, and have literally only used it once. Paid around 28k at the time, and would look at offers around half that. It is as new.

Provide the following information :
- tire size : 27,5
- frame size
- front shock details
- rear shock details
- detail of gears, ie 2x10, and Deore ??
- details of brakes.

27,5 is not a popular size, that said, that price is good for a full suspension bike.

I upgraded from my Felt hardtail (somewhere earlier in the thread) a couple of years back. Got a fairly standard Anthem which I then tried to turn into more of an enduro/trail bike.
