Collected my bike from CycleTech in Kyalami yesterday after a service. They did such a good job cleaning it that I walked right passed it when I arrived... I'd almost forgotten what it looked like under all the dirt and dust.

The poor thing is trying desperately to get me ready for the 94.7 MTB race. I must say, it's an awesome bike.

Is the adventure race similar to the orienteering so that you need that contraption on the handlebars ?

I agree 100%, they are awsome bikes.

Ek wil nie eers meer met my padfiets ry nie nou dat ek aan die bike gewoond geraak het. Die padfiets ry soos 'n Land Cruiser bakkie en die Gaint soos 'n groot Merc.

Yes, in adventure racing you also need to find control points using a map and compass. The gadget on the handlebar holds the map and control point description so you can read while riding. The other requirement on the bike is a powerful (>500 lumens) light that can last through the night.

    Default Post in Correct Section

To all the non pedal bike posters, I am going to clean up this thread so that it reverts back to topic.

The Good News is we will be putting in a Motor Cycle (Bike) Section shortly.

So, hang in with your your pic's and comments, save them for the new section.

Hope it's not already in place while I'm typing this.

It would also help if a bicycle is referred to as a bicycle, and not a bike.
In RSA a bike has a motor.... and footrests, not pedals

If not "bike", then "cycle", as virtually no-one says "bicycle".

Thanks for listening, Mods...... The change will make 2 sets of two-wheel fans happy.

Een van my vriende is besig om te spaar vir die fiets, soos ek verstaan is dit op die oomblik een van die ligste duel suspension fietse wat jy kan koop.

Interesting how many variations of sport now become available that have a bike linked to it. Used to be cyclin disciplines and triathlon. Now the cycle. Run and shoot options etc as well.

Dis orienteering once at groenkloof and it was flipped tough !
