Why has nobody ever corrected that horrible narrow wheel base with decent rims or spacers?
It would also counteract on the top-heavy, tipping, rolling factor and it would look so much cooler.

It often occurred to me when following a tuna that the thing looks awfully narrow with OEM rims and marie bisquit tyres.

So guys a challenge:
WHO CAN PRODUCE A DECENT STANDING TUNA WITH AN ACCEPTABLE WHEEL BASE?

Note: The fender flares would allow for wider rims and larger tyre, especially when lifted.

You cannot really do spacers or wider tires without having issues with clearances on the the Tuna. The DC rims does give it a slightly wider stance with the std 265/65/17 tyres but clearance is VERY little.

Going 32" with the DC rims will definitely require removals of front mud flaps and most likely even front spacer & plastic trimming. Going 33" requires cutting etc

Would Arctic Trucks have a solution, they do all kind of conversions?

Maniac looks a bit too extreme for my liking but it shows it's doable.

Also we don't think we need the snorkel. We have done multiple river crossings where the water came over the bonnet until the water reached the windscreen. Got almost stuck in Botswana with the water just below the left hand mirror and the water was seat level in the Fortuner with no damage at all. The electrics will go before the engine will drown.

It does look good! Any vehicle with a snorkel looks good.

Yes they do do Fortuner conversions with bigger wheels. The one I photographed didn't have a snorkel though.

Nice one, it almost looks like an off-roader now .
The wider stance will also compensate for the roll-over issues.
Any idea what tyre size are mounted on this one.

Well, I thought so as well, have done dozens of crossings until the futile one which claimed my engine.
Now about 70k lighter but also somehow wiser, I trust the snorkel.

BTW the electrics were still fine, the engine not so.
