    Arrow Is this human or a baboon skull

    I was out 4x4ing by myself this afternoon and came across this skull while walking through and over some huge rocks, is it a baboon or human skull, how does a person tell the difference?

    That's most probably baboon, deffinately not human. Eye sockets far too close together, and the stretch of bone beneath the eyes is way too long for a human. Also a human skull have a rather pronounced nose cavity, also the forehead is all wrong. In humans you can't see a person's eyes without also seeing his forehead, in baboons you can.

    While they're alive it's often difficult to tell the difference, especially w.r.t. behaviour, but once dead it's unmistakable.

    Very interesting indeed where we actually come from, some say we come from the Ape, some say from The Garden of Eden, however the question is;

    Where are we going.

    Thankyou for this info Sir

    Simon,
    This is a skull from a baboon that I shot the end of Oct 2007 at Boegoeberg, I think your skull belongs to a baboon.

    Reminds me of the kid that asked his dad if he was decended from a baboon...

    Dad's reply, "Your father maybe, but def not mine"
