    It will make it "interesting" if it rains during the weekend.

    There is a good chance that my BIL will join us with his Sahara.

    Default Some quick advice...

    Hey guys, i am posting this double (here and in the mitsu section) as i need some quick advice:

    Need some quick assistance here;

    The chain in the transfer case has snapped... They are willing to cover labour (+/-R5k) if i cover the R4,500 for the chain...

    Can anyone tell me that wear and tear on this chain could have been detrimentally affected by a bad seal or bad work performed on the freewheel valve that they did in May earlier this year?

    What i am gunning for is two fold:

    1. The work "you" did on the initial repair was bad/incorrect/unnecessary and led to additional strain on the transfer case and has led to the damage.
    (i need the technical advice here)

    2. failure to heed my warnings (and repeated written attempts of same) from at least 3 (possibly 4) separate job cards over the last 6 months has ALSO led to continued wear and tear and damage has resulted.

    - the latter is a "slam dunk" in that they failed to heed my warnings/requests to look into the matter properly (there is written evidence) and therefore this could have been caught earlier...

    HOWEVER, they could still claim, yes, we could have caught it earlier, but we STILL would have had to replace it... so therefore completely at my cost.

    If i can prove their negligence led to the failure... different story.
    ...

    Wow, sorry to hear of your TC problems, I don't have any advice unfortunately, but can say that after our last trip to Olifants River, I had my TC repaired, both gears, chain, and clutch all replaced for around R6k

    Why not see if you can source the chain yourself.

    The chains are notoriously expensive and only a agent item. Gen 2 Pajero chain is around R3500 so his price looks spot on. If theey did a crappy job on the vehicle before then I'd suggest finding a indy and having it done there (probably half the labour cost)..
    IFS is like a swambo, soft, sexy and expensive!

    Apparently I need to make the airplane noises like mommy does when I try to spoon feed you the info..
