Hi All
I have just bought a new telescope (Celestron Astromaster 130EQ) and would like to know more about what is happening with Mars on the 27th of August. There is a lot on the web but some of the stuff is rumors. If it is something big, I would like to drive out somewhere to go veiw it.
Regards
Eric

I'm sure the telescope should be able to handle that. Enjoythe hoax stemmed from a misinterpretation of the sentence "At a modest 75-power magnification Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye". The message was often [laxly] quoted with a line break in the middle of this sentence, leading some readers to mistakenly believe that "Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye" when, in reality, this sentence means that Mars enlarged 75 times will look as big as the moon unenlarged.
