They might be on 3500 nowadays. The container market is very tight.
    Thanks both! Good to know!

We're currently on a mega trip in East Africa from Cape Town with our Fortuner.

Another option to consider - you can securely store a vehicle at Jungle Junction in Nairobi (backpackers and campsite) for 60 euros a month - many Europeans keep their vehicles here and fly down for trips. Owner Chris has an excellent workshop. Leave your vehicle there for a few months and pick it up when you've got time to drive back.

You can fly to Dar extremely cheaply on Fastjet (google it) from Joburg and get a bus to Nairobi if you want to get to and fro very cheaply. Otherwise flights to Nairobi are not that expensive.

    Just a thought...

    Suggestions appreciated.
    Hi Thomas,

Any luck with this? Have you done the trip already?

Planning to do this next year with the family so would appreciate any insight.

    Hi Guys.

We are planning a 2 month trip to Kenya and the surrounds and looking at leaving our car there fly back to CPT and return in a few months to continue travelling. Any leads on 20'ft container contacts to ship from CPT to Mombasa?

Remember you will need a Carnet de Passage for shipping in (and out?) of Mombasa. And you may well need a Carnet for shipping into South Africa. A shipping agent will be able to advise.
