    Smile ZIM overland advice?

    Hello Folks

I am very happy to found this useful forum, as I am from Hungary I cannot get much usefuel informations about Africa here. We did some selfdrive overland safaris in the recent years to Botswana, Zambia and Moz, but never been to Zim. I already read many good advices on this site about car and police etc.

We are going on a JNB-BW-ZIM-MOZ tour end of october, could someone help me with some simple route advice?

We would enter Zim at Pandamantenga border post to Hwange, spend 2 nights there and then we would head to Mana Pools.
What I cannot really figure out if we can do the Hwange - Mana Pools in 1 day with the Landy or we have to make a stop over somewhere?

    Cool

    Hi,

IMHA Hwange / Mana Pools within one day is not very sensible, yoou should consider at least one stop in-between.

Do not forget that, before you enter Mana Pools you have to report to The Marongora Zimparks office in order to get a permit (otherwise they will not let you in at the main gate), Marongora does not give any permit if you come after 15h00 p.m.

    Cheers..

We've done Hwange to South East Kariba (Gache Gache) in two days of fairly easy driving, staying over at Chizarira Safari Lodge (S17 36.844 E27 51.087) which was beautifully situated but VERY run down, road speeds on the dirt roads varied between 30-80km/h. Then did Gache Gache to Mana the next day arriving after lunch.
