Default Fitting towbar to Challenger Trailer

I have a Campmaster Challenger trailer as well as a family that loves cycling. As a result I have to pickle 4 bikes around. I went to a cycling shop to see if I can find a bicycle rack that I can fit to the back of the trailer but cannot find anything.

As I have a Thule bike carrier I was wondering whether I can have a towbar fitted to the trailer, and if possible, who would do something like that. Would such a towbar be strong enough to carry about 50 kg's of bikes coupled with bumps and wind impacts ?

Add to that the leverage and look at the thickness and strength ofthe mounting area and you would probably feel a lot safer to avoid that route. Pm Heinz he would probably the safest advisor

I fitted a towbar on my trailer about 30 years ago. It is not just a case of drilling a hole, there is lots of forces back there, trailers bounce. It must be fitted professionally preferably by a trailer person to the trailers chassis, etc.

My trailer has shocks, big BFG's and I run a low pressures in the tyres.

I fitted it more for towing a second trailer.

I had a 4 bike rack fitted to the back towbar, however the forces and the bouncing of the bikes on the rack is extreme when off-road and gravel driving. (even tar driving) I changed it to 4 bike rack fitted onto the top of the trailer. The bike back wheel fits into a small catch, the front wheel removed and the forks bolt into an "axel" fitting on the trailer. Fits like a dream and costs very little and weights nothing.
