    2012 in white with 71 000km on.
    Dropping seat, noisy rear door.

Interestingly, my previous FJ in sandstorm gave me 7,5-8km/l.
This one only gives me 6, if I am lucky. Similar tyres, only a roof rack added.
Roof rack does make a difference. I find playing around with the tyre pressure helps, too. Have you checked what spark plugs are in there? Engine oil? Gearbox oil? Air filter?
If the previous owner / workshop skimped on those items and used cheap oil or for some reason put in the wrong spark plugs, didn't properly clean or better replace the air filter, that might all add up.

Thanks Hugo, been serviced at Toyota twice since I have had her. I'll ask them to replace all of the above on the next service. I haven't checked the plugs. Any preferred brand or type?

Having scanned through the long list, question arises, whats it with all the prop-shaft upgrades ? Just curious.

Just had look regarding some service items. If your spark plugs are still the original ones, they should be the iridium type and last up to 100,000 km.
Gearbox oil (automatic transmission fluid), would also last 100,000 km, in fact Toyota claims the gearbox to be a non service item. However, if your gear box has been under lots of strain, e.g. towing often or lots of off road stuff where the oil gets hot regularly, you might want to change it earlier.
Same for diff & transfer case oils.

You can either buy the original iridium spark plugs at Toyota or go to e.g. Midas and ask them for suitable iridium spark plugs. Make sure it's a proper brand, like NGK for example. They should be cheaper than the ones Toyota would seel you, probably still quite expensive though. However, they should last you another 100,000 km.

There are a few guys who have removed the catalytic converter from their FJ, maybe that would make a little bit of a difference, too. Small chance that the previous owner used some additives in the petrol, which might not have been cat compatible and have fouled the cat? Could have clogged it up a bit?

Thanks very much! I will start with all the items you listed and see if it improves!

I love my FJ so much I sold my 200 and bought another....last white one in SA, very scarce at the moment. Battled for 2 weeks for dealer to swop out for one. Almost got cement grey but was also sold. There is one black one left until ship apparently docks on 30 March and price increases on 1 April....mmmmm...bet there will be a lot of stock on 1 April.

The dealership is feeding you some BS there, TSA has a small stock yard at Trade Zone at the airport and on Monday there were two white FJ's (very dirty but very white) parked there also according to three different stock controllers at three dealerships here FJ's stopped arriving here last year so I doubt any more are coming on any ships(but this could also be BS) - I have reserved a white which I can only take in May

[/QUOTEOn 5 November 2013, Toyota USA announced the 2014 model year Trail Teams edition would be called the "Ultimate Edition" and that the 2014 model year would be the last for the FJ Cruiser in that market.[1] It continued to be made for sale in other markets such as Australia[6][7] until its export to that market was discontinued in August 2016. As of January 2020, it is still sold in markets such as Chile, South Africa, the Middle East and the Philippines.[8][9]The "Final Edition" of the FJ Cruiser went on sale in Japan on 12 September 2017.[2] Sales of the FJ Cruiser were discontinued there on 31 January 2018.

Thanks Bruce, so we might still get them in years to come. The RHD market is very small so we could possibly only get the LHD version.
