Got myself a real sexy 'socks tan'

Second funniest part of the day was Jakes winning a lube service at Roverland!
Funniest part - goes without saying, but has been mentioned.
That was quite funny musta say. The look on Jakes' face when he was handed the envelope was priceless.

No what if's or but's marshals and committee decisions are final. No recounts heehee .
I must say there are some strange figures there,
But thats the way it is.

There must be a rethink on the way of scoring.

I saw a Landy go around an obstacle at get full marks. No touches or roll backs.
The next guy packed to the hilt goes around, one roll back, two touches and gets more points than the first guy. Just because he carried an extra passanger.

I propose that we do away with that nonsense and the Blind stuff, just the skill of the driver...you can still have fun this way i thinks,

Ian, our first obstacle just happened to be yours! It was here that we were informed by the officials (i.e. your marshals) that only one passenger will count. So in our naive trusting ways we proceeded in this fashion for the rest of the day. It would seem this bit of subterfuge cost us around 950 points! Add that to what we have on the score sheet and spot the rightful position for the FAC!

    Be warned... We'll be back!!

o-well, next year it may well be the dreaded sand pit drivers that arrange the event ..... no guesses WHERE they will take the rest of the clan to once again rise to the top of the log .....

I agree with you fully, all was rectified.
But the team before you Elrico, firstly drove brilliantly , they looked determined not to make any mistakes, their vehicles were packed with people, with seat belts and scored more than a 100pts,
Most teams as per instructions 10 pts per passenger.
Later all rectified 10pt for passengers no matter how many.

In any event, Cape Family Landrover Club, didnt really need the extras, they could have done it without.
They did have an advantage though, where most others didnt, and next time we would have to address this as it can be construed to be unfair. Yes there were other teams that could have also used this as their advantage, and if not against the rules, why not.
But they drove by the rules of the day and that what counts in the end

My understanding of the scoring and correct me if I am wrong.

    1. We were going to start obstacle 1 when the marshal was informed about +10 points for the passenger/s. I have that on tape.
    2. Thus you could score a max of 110 points per obstacle or 880 for the day?
    3. Meaning the so called extras, ie tennis balls, netballs, belts, ect were deducted from the 100 points before you started the obstacle ?

ie I started obstacle 1, did not do anything wrong apart from missing both buckets with the balls. I had a passenger and then I scored only 60. Am I correct?

Seeing that we are not allowed our individual scores, you'll never know.

I have no problem with the marshall's decision being final, but I would like to know what it is based on.

No matter what we observed or say, we'll be made out to be sore losers, so the less said the better, but:

Yes we did - Our rule book said 10 points per passenger, so my wife scored accordingly. Then they changed it after the first 2 groups to a max of 10 points per passenger/car. So we had to remark both those teams.

There is no driver points sign-off system like in WCCC, so I don't see why the points can't just be transparent.

Correct. The driving counted for 50 points and the participation sections counted for 50 (Tennis balls, netball, fan belt throw etc.)

I think the driver should be given a duplicate copy of his score by the marshal after each obstacle completed

Yes , we have hyped up this event over the years with all our banter and fun , which has now created the trophy to almost god-like status .
This is brilliant as it really brings out the rivalry amongst all of us , which makes for a really exiting event on our 4x4 calendar .

But in hindsight , with the status of the trophy and the value of the prizes given by the sponsors , I would recommend a bit more transparency with regards to the scores . ie Cost to supply booklets for all drivers to sign off at each obstacle - Small
With regards to certain vehicles having advantages over others , good luck to them , that's their 4x4 of choice . Same as a Suzuki Jiminy with out a top would also have a massive advantage over someone like Kobus Venter in his Patrol .
Congrats to the LR Family team on their win , and also to Ashley , Alan Venter and their organizing committee for a well organized event . I was really impressed when I got there at lunch time and saw the hive of activity , sponsors advertising etc .
    We will be back

    Hi guy's and girls.
We as the Land Rover Family Club would like to thank all the Clubs and Marshals for an awesome event. I am sorry that i used my handbrake to do some of the turns , but i was told by the relevant marshals that we got a free reverse to help the guy's and girls with the long wheel base cars. Being very competitive between ourselves as a club,we tried to do the obstacle without any reverses.
Thank you again for an awesome event.
