I am surprised that you still believe there's a chance we will not win. To us its more of a social event. Dust of trophy, drive a bit, drink a few beers, cheer a bit, add life to the event, go home place trophy back on shelf

Ian, a little secret we don't go to win. We go to have fun, a good day out. If we win that's a bonus. You'll put to much pressure on the team if you try to win

Ha,haaa DA thats what DH and I had in mind on the fun day at AD. We had a blast with Wade at the back and it was fun (as per fun day event rules) we were throwing things at each other and sharing chips etc.... Guess thats why we ended below 20th but was a great day for FAM. We will seriously have to constrain Bugs/Niel/Q/Doc/Fransman and of course CK to not win the day, He,Heee,ha,haaa

Ok, so we are on track, just a few more forms to get in the we are A for a way.
HILUX Club, Hello hello are you there .. how are things going .

Some of the things/rules etc on the day...

    RE: The Gates

The Planning Committee has identified and started planning the gates and activities for this year’s AAWDC Cape Interclub Family Day, known as the 2013 AAWDC CIF Day.

    General info about the gates:
    1. There will be 8 gates at the event.
    2. There will be various awards that are team driven. Over and above the scores of the member teams, the following will count in your favour: fair play; Club Team with the most GEES; family participation; marshals’ running of their gate; the size of your supporter base; best dressed team; etc. These awards will be in the form of either a trophy or a certificate and of course the bragging rights that go with it.
    3. There will be various prizes handed out as part of the lucky draw during prize giving after all gates have been completed. This draw will benefit drivers, co-drivers, marshals as well as spectators.
    1. Each Club Team will be allotted one 30 minute slot per gate.( You get five minutes to get to the next gate)
    2. Lunch (30 minutes) will be staggered at different times for all participating Club Teams as per program.
    3. There will be 5 slots before lunch and 5 slots after.
    4. Each Club Team will have two 30 minute break slots – one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
    5. Club Team photos will be taken during the Club Teams’ break slots.
    6. The area where the gates are to be held will be an alcohol free zone until all gates have been completed by all Club Teams. Breathalyser tests may be administered by the Planning Committee at any time while the gates are being run. Safety on the day will be of paramount importance to us and it would be appreciated if you could convey this message across to your teams and their supporters. It is for this reason that no drinking of alcoholic beverages in the participation area will be allowed by participants, marshals and spectators alike.
    7. Each Club Team is encouraged to decorate their gate according to point 10 below and to have similar ‘uniform’ for their member teams and/or marshals.

    1. Each participating Club Team must consist of 6 member teams, each with a driver and a co-driver.
    2. Any family members in the vehicle while taking part at the gates will boost the score of the Club Team.
    3. Both driver and co-driver entrance fees are covered by the entry fee paid already and a meal ticket for each is included in their entry. Any passengers in the member team’s vehicle must pay an entry fee – R10 per adult; scholars and younger enter free of charge.
    4. There will be 8 gates which must be completed by each participating Club Team’s 6 member teams.
    5. In the event that any of the member teams in a Club Team cannot complete any specific gate within the allotted half an hour, only the scores for the member teams who completed that specific gate will be added to the Club Team’s total score.
    6. The layout of each gate will be specified by the Planning Committee. The point system at each gate will be explained by the marshals at the gate.
    7. The order in which Club Teams will complete their gates will be supplied by the Planning Committee prior to the event.
    8. The order in which member teams take part at the gates is up to each participating Club Team.

    1. The marshals’ decisions at the gates are final. No arguing will be allowed. Any disputes must be taken to the Clerk of the Course.
    2. There will be no individual awards; only Club Team awards.
    3. No drinking and driving will be allowed.
    4. Safety belts must be worn at all times by all participants including passengers.

    Info for the marshals:
    1. Each participating Club Team must contain a team of between 6-8marshals.
    2. Marshals enter the event free of charge and a meal ticket for each is included in their entry. Any passengers in the marshal’s vehicle must pay an entry fee – R30 per adult; scholars and younger R15.
    3. Each of the 8 gates will be marshalled by one of the participating Club Teams’ marshals.
    4. Each participating Club Teams’ marshals will also be responsible for setting up their gate on the weekend prior to the event (2 & 3 November 2013) according to the instructions and standards supplied by the Planning Committee.

    1. The layout of each gate will be specified by the Planning Committee. The point system at your gate must be explained to participating member teams by the marshals. The relevant information will be supplied by the Planning Committee during the marshals’ briefing on the morning of the event.
    2. The fun activity at each gate will be specified by the Planning Committee.
    3. The fun activity at each gate will be supplied to the marshals during the marshals’ briefing on the morning of the event.
    4. The manner in which the marshals run their obstacle will count towards the total score of the Club Team.
    5. Each marshalling team must provide their gate with a recovery vehicle for their gate.
    6. No drinking of alcohol will be allowed at the gates.
    7. Flags, poles, barrier tape, etc. must be provided by the Club Teams.
    8. Safety vests or similar should be worn by the marshals or they should be easily identifiable as marshals.
    9. Each Club Team to provide clipboards and pens to their marshals and a Chief Marshal, i.e. the person totalling scores, should be appointed.

The aim of this event is for all Club Teams and their members to have fun and interact positively with the other participating clubs. Even though nobody likes losing, let’s try not to make winning the sole aim of the day.

If any of the Clubs have any recommendations/suggestions for fun activities they are welcome to forward it to the Planning Committee via Val.

    Kind regards,
    Val Davies
On behalf of the Planning Committee

So there you go, nice lot of reading hey.
Come and support please, no one takes part for monetary gain.
All the guys taking part do it for fun, although some take it seriously, but all are winners at the end of the day.
We have the event to meet others that share our 4x4 culture and to promote the sport here in the Cape.
If we dont get the support, we wont have these events in the future.
These events are expensive to run, lots of work by the organisors months before the big day.
We need to support Ashley and his team.

See you all on the day, come and say hello to your forum and the teams and clubs you support, dont be shy.
    ORA
