Smile Two Stroke oil in TDV6 works wonders!!

Just to say thank you to Baben for his advise to add some two stroke oil to my Discovery 3 TDV6 diesel. The TDV6 was very lazy from 0-2000rmp. Then suddenly a lot of power. After adding the two stroke oil i now found that the engine is much more alive from 0-2000RPM. I don't know what it did to the engine, but it worked wonders.

I may also mention that i did the remap, but i think a lot of the new gain in power is to do with the two stroke oil and the rest the remap.

    Thanks Anthony.

    Heron,

Did you do the remap and 2S0 at the same time?

If so, how can you tell which of the 2 is responsible for the improvement?

My brothers TDV6 has a lot more power than mine. The i did the remap with Baben and was hoping to have the same power as my brother.

After the remap i could not really tell if threre was a difference. my TDV6 was still lazy.

While Anthony did the remap he advised me that i may have to add some two stoke oil. I did this for three tanks in a row, and it was almost at every pull away that i was more and more amazed with the new found power.

I even had to appologise to some of my pasangers when driving off from a full stop, because i was use to putting pedal to the metal just te get off the dot. Now if i do that i can drop a GTI (almost)

I think the remap is a must, but in my case the two stroke oil did the trick

    Hi Heron

great it did the trick for you. BTW Anthony got that tip from me.

Now let me explain why you suddenly got back that lost power.

Aside from giving much needed extra lubrication to the CRD injection components (it will save your injectors and the HPFP), the new Jaso-FC grade 2sO's contain some VERY effective additives, that remove carbon buildup from the inside of the engine.

In your specific case it will most probably have been the vane mechanism of the VVT turbo, that was getting sticky due to excessive carbon build up around the actuator ring of the turbo.

Below some pics that illustrate this.

    Pic one:

Excessive carbon build up - This turbo failed due to a seized actuator motor (burnt out)

    Pic Two

Turbo out of our D3 run on 500ml 2sO in EVERY tank - Check the clean pivot points

    Hi there George

500ml for a full tank. What is the ratio per litre, 5ml for every litre of diesel? Can any two stroke be added?

    Regards
    George

PS: Thanks for showing out to me where that little button is located to release the gear lever when in park.

as discussed before - don't use synthetic 2SO
TT grade Jaso FB or FC is perfect
after 3 tanks at 500 ml per tank, you could step down to 250ml per tank
one of the guys on the forum misread 500ml and did 5l per tank for 1/2 of the first tank.
the Td5 ran well, no smoke and was very quiet
after around 300km he realised his mistake, called and told him not to stress. he topped up the tank in any case.
he is now running 250ml per tank and she is happy

Autozone sells in 1 litre units but i have seen 5 litre units around
1 litre is a handy size
lasts about a month and will fit inside the vehicle centre console

Where can one get a remap done in CT?

    I guess DECAT + 2SO + REMAP = very spirited TDV6.

Can i add the normal tso one finds at the local Shell/Engen stations?

    Hi guys

the correct ratio is 1:200 or 500ml per 100lt of diesel.

Sasol and Caltex sell JASO-FC grade 2sO at all their fuel stations.

Bulk 2sO can be purchased from Fuchs Oil or one of their distributors in 1lt, 5lt 20lt or 210lt bindings. You do however have to order the bigger volume bindings per special order.

    Trust this helps.

Thanks. I sommer added 500ml of normal two stroke oil which i got from the boat shop in 5l container. A few months back. Will do the JASO-FC next every 5th or so tank.

Maybe the Boat shop oil has that something magic inside :-)

Can't wait to see how it goes with the Caravan now?

This is what they look like when stripped at high mileage. Check especially the total lack of a carbon ridge in the bore.

When I inspect an opened diesel engine (high miler), I can immediately tell if the owner added 2sO or not. The lack of carbon ridges and heavy carbon deposits on top of the pistons are a dead giveaway!
