    Looking to go play tomorrow.

All the people I know are either preparing for Carnage Canyon or Baboons next weekend.

Went out to All Out Africa (Bosvark) for some fun. Been there twice before but have been beaten by Survivor on both occasions.

Now with some lift and better tyres Survivor has been beaten. Unfortunately the little Tuna ahead of me did not make it up...

Some of SWAMBO's photos show the articulation I get with the Terrafirma lift - Worth every cent.

Is All Out Africa a difficult route? I have only done The Wedge and De Wildt, so I have very limited experience.

It's mostly an easy route. Take your time and enjoy it.
Survivor - quite a rock climb with an escape route, is definitely a challenge.
There is also a mud pit thing where getting stuck is pretty easy and common.

R200 when I was there, we were 2 in the car.

Just went and had a play at All Out Africa. Lots of fun and not too long a trail.
    Will post pics later.

I didnt do the very steep rock climb. There was a nice red Defender 2.8i pulling an FJ up there though.
Couldn't make it thru #6, the deep water hole, although I was warned to leave it alone by one chap and then told to go for it. Luckily I managed to reverse out after a short battle. I think it is passable but only at a higher speed and at certain risk of denting your left doors.

Recovered a couple of friendly guys in a Nissan and a Mitsubishi, who had earlier offered to pull me out of there if I got stuck.

    Nice cameraderie I must say.

So, a good day out, and a quick stop at the car wash and all is happiness

So we started off nice and clean:

    Things went downhill from there

    Almost underground

    Pulling out the Mitsu

Getting stuck and just managing to extricate myself

    Pulling out the Nissan

    And generally having fun

Nice shots bud. SWAMBO says you a BANGBROEK for not conquering survivor. You let a puney D2 give you carrots.

Think I'll have to take that D3 off your hands and show it some respect...

Shame Boet, this must be like rubbing salt in your wounds!
All the pics are from Chantal. I am almost as hopeless at photography as I am at climbing rocks in a D3.

If Survivor is the steep rock face, my excuse is the main reason I skipped it is the guys were quite busy there, and I didn't want to wait. In a D3 with such huge articulation and ground clearance, its no more difficult than the rest of the rocks.. (ha ha cocky tongue in cheek)

You can have my D3 for 210k as she stands, no problem I just spent 2 hours cleaning all the mud off the chassis.

Shame Boet, this must be like rubbing salt in your wounds! - I am not one who gets jealous of other's success. Maybe soon we can do it together and I'll show you how to climb that rock. Remember I have actually made it up there.

Will still take MY D3 up there!!!

If I had the bucks you'd be out of a Disco, but only once Peter has done an oil analysis and given it the all clear.

I meant posting the pics is like rubbing salt in your wounds cos that place was so recent for you and your D2. I would be freakin gutted if I went thru the same experience, you know what I am like with my car, and I think you are similar in the way everything must be right.
Re my D3, yup I do an oil test every service. Call me crazy but I am paranoid about that TDV6

I was there yesterday as well. Witnessed the Triton being helped out the mud.

But my beginner status was soon confirmed as I went through the "underground" section (from Baben's pics, think it's obstacle 4). I seriously underestimated the Rangers break over angle and promptly put it on its belly on top. Tried backing up to get more momentum only to be greeted with a plough in the form of my tow bar hindering my rearward travel. Thanks to the advise of some bystanders I managed to get out, but not without a slight scratch on the rear panel (thanks for the bystanders for the help!!). Then, up on the mountain, a large rock got the better of me again by smashing a dent the size of my fist into my standard side steps. All I can say (in shame while bowing my head) is that I need A LOT more experience!

I did not even attempt Survivor! The pictures I've seen on the forum does not do that rock slab any justice!!

its never good when you hurt your toys, kinda takes some of the fun out of it. I was fortunate to get away with a few scratches on the rims and along the left hand doors.

I also forgot to remove my towbar (ploeg!) before attempting the mud hole, and I think this is what prevented me from being able to climb up the far bank. It very nearly prevented my escape as well. A lesson for next time.

I hope you weren't too upset at me shouting at the kids when we were recovering the Blue Nissan. Sorry if I offended anyone but I didn't want anyone nearby getting hurt

We were all beginners and chose to learn, some of us are still beginners, but with big mouths and a lot to say. Survivor is an awesome slab of rock and a real challenge for any driver. One day when I'm big I'll drive down it as well.

I think the Disco tow bar has stopped many driver's in their tracks. My Disco 3 will have a bumper replacement with a 2" square removable towbar like my 2 had.
