    Default Triton DIY Drawer system

    So,

I'm not going to do tooo much explaining at this stage... I hope that the pictures will speak a 1000 words...

Frame was built using mild steel and then powder coated.

Nuts was welded to the frame. Tghis means that I can easily install the drawer system and bolt it down without the need to disassemble the whole system to get to the nuts. I bolt the system from outside the loadbin, through the back wheel arches... So it's an easy removable drawer system.

NOW: With the Fernlock sliders installed.....

Wooden tops covered with carpet... I used 14mm marine ply...

    In the next picture...

Notice the pre-installed T-NUTS... This is to fit the fridge slide. Again, I can install the fridge slide without struggling with nuts, and I can do this without dissasembling the drawer system...

T-Nuts was also installed under the carpets, in order to fasten the wooden tops to the prame... Again... no issues with nuts

Pics to continue in next post....

Drawers is made from 1mm galvanized sheet...

I bought the sheet, did the measurements and cut to the correct sizes, and took it to engineering shop just to do the bending for me... Cost me R130 for the bending.

Not 100% sure... But cost probably in the region of +/- R4000... Of which the sliders alone was around R2200.

2 Bolts on each side from outside the vehicle (makes fitting and removing of drawer system a breeze)

And the 1 X at the tailgate side (centre) from underneath the loadbin, just to secure and prevent uneccessary rattles...

Did you keep track of your costs as would be a nice indicator for someone else who might also consider building their own vs. buying.

    Hi SinWolf...jeez...great job!

Plse tell me how you mounted the sliding rail onto the square tubing frame?

Did u use the same method to mount the rail onto the drawer itself?

    Thank you..

    Cheers..

    Hi,

You extend (pull out) the slide to access the mounting holes... Then you just bolt them...

See the bolts on this pic...
