Default Living in an American sitcom

What's your opinion of this trend that's sweeping through our society where everyone has to hug and kiss each other regardless of who you are? And Michael Jackson has even got hold of our teenagers who say goodbye to each other with "I love you"

I can't bloody stand it. Whatever happened to shaking hands and maybe a pat on the shoulder?

What really piss me of is "my bad". Its a quick escape without taking any accountability for your actions.

Come on Spike make love not war;-) No idea where it comes from, only hug and kiss family. However, maybe if I can convince SWAMBO that this is a new trend our next beach holiday could be fun...

Ja man.....look at your address. Kathu. You obviously don't have the same problem there. Men are men and women are in the kitchen.

Here in Cape Town everywhere you go socially it's a whole huggy kissy thing that freaks me out. The scary part for me is that it really seems to be becoming more entrenched and becoming the norm. And if you're like me that doesn't want to hug and kiss everyone then you're viewed as rude. I'm sure if we meet one day you'll prefer it if I shake your hand and just greet your family.

Hey Herman, did they search you before you left our province?.

Hope your trip back home was trouble free.

I could be wrong, but I am almost certain Herman said that he wanted to be back by the 3rd.

Spike, since Cape Town is the official gay capital of RSA, it seems to me you might just have a slight case of homophobia?

But seriously, if it is a male, a decent, firm handshake will do. This way I can keep enough distance to plant a left hook if the touch seems to be too suggestive. I am not a homophobe, but are seriously against sexual harrassment. If it is a reasonably good looking female that i know (without any obvious facial hair) a hug, or peck (without leaving any lipstick residue) is acceptable . If someone approach me to beg or ask a "favour" I refuse to shake his hand, you do not know how many potentially ill people he has shaken before. This also immediately gives the indication that I am not realy as "helpful" as they might have anticipated.
