    Default Hluhluwe to Kosi Bay

We will be on Holiday at Hluhluwe in July.

Was thinking if it would be possible to take a drive to Kosi Bay? See on the map it is about 180 km.

What is the condition of the road like? Will you need a 4x4 (I hope so ). Wants to make a interesting day trip out of it...

Road is fine, except for traditional robots (ngunis).

Deflate tyres to 1.5 for the sand road, keep your eyes open, the community is full of crap.

Book yourself a boat trip with Kosi Bay Lodge on the lake. Or you can drive to the mouth and do some snorkeling

Kosi is awesome, but you will have to leave Hluhluwe early.

No, you won't need a 4x4, but take the old road from Hluhluwe, past Ngweni, past Mhlosinga and then hit the tar.

From there turn off at Jozini, go up the mountain and head up to Kozi, past Jozini.

    Then come back via Ubombo.

The other Makatini road, over Lower Mkuzi, is as boring as heck.

Another "interesting" drive is from Sodwana to 9 mile, Black Rock, Mabibi Beach all via Lake Sibaya. But you may need to get permits from the Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife stations in Sodwana. in these stations, they also have maps for you

Although not a real, tough 4x4 trail, I think you can still have fun and see some amazing beaches and scenery!!

Just don't park with valuables left in your car... the parking's are often quite... um, overgrown.

You will only need a permit for Black Rock which you cannot get as Sodwana but only at Manzingwenya (spelling) forrest station and at Mqobela Camp close to Black Rock.

That is my problem, we will be driving alone.

Is there a big risk of getting stuck?
