A friend has a Nuvi 200w which was able to take T4A easily BUT he could only load the programme, not actually plot and drive a route, it would simply display the entire road map as listed on T4A, pretty useless if you ask me. The problem is not with the mapset, but rather the unit. The GPS unit can read the map and display the total map, but unit is not able to receive a route from ie Basecamp or Mapsource. In other words it is not 'programmable'.
I've got a Nuvi215w (display T4A only) and had to get Nuvi500 to program routes.
When a person buys a GPS he has to make sure that is it can handle routing. They are also more expensive than your base models.
