Lightbulb Namibia - Camping in the Southern Region

I'm planning a camping trip of about 10 days into the Southern Region of Namibia, visiting no more than 3 camp sites this coming June / July. Will most likely camp at Ai Ais Hot Springs Camp Site on our way back home.

I would be most grateful if some good camp sites (Southern Region) could be mentioned and recommended for families, nothing too rural, not fully kitted out for that yet!

Dirt roads and 4x4 routes are most welcome.

Don't know how much you know about Namibia, but it is pretty much rural everywhere. Some campsites have electricity points, but it is better to go well equipped and prepared, it gives you more options.

    Nice campsites are:
    - Several farms in the Tirasberge, this is on the edge of the Namib, beautiful
    - Klein Aus Vista, neer Aus
    - Abiqua, just acroos the border, on the banks of the Orange. Great place and you may be able to organise a canoeing trip down the river
-Couple of places outside Rosh Pinah too

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is mystery, today is a gift, that's why its called "present".

We stayed at Klein Aus Vista last winter.

Nice place and within reach of a Luderitz call. Peaceful, hot water, clean, sites well spaced and away from your neighbours, away from noise, some donkeys roaming around the camp at night.

No 220V though. Be totally prepared for cold conditions - night temperatures dip very low. Well below freezing.

Thanks for the info guys, have been doing a lot of prep work - looking up camping sites in the southern region and checking out their ratings. Any more advice would be much appreciated.

Ranch Koiimasis in the Tiras Mountain Conservancy is lovely. Anke and Wulff Izko are the owners, and if you let them know in advance, they should be able to supply you with fresh gemsbok steaks.
