Question Hi Rebuild - Double cab to super or single cab

Hi guys, just got my hands on another double cab (bit bent after accident) and I would like to change it to a single cab or and super cab like the model from the states.

Does any one have some old spares like a single cab lying around?

I already have another double cab shell, double cab load body and a short wheel base load body (should I decided the build the super cab).

The other projects on this vehicle will be a trailing arm suspension with coils in stead of leaf springs, front bumper, rear bumper, rock sliders, diff guards and many more. See www.for-fours.com

O, I'd like to post a pic of the super cab. Can anybody please tell me "How to post a pic for dummies"

I have been looking at converting a leaf sprung rear suspension to a coil sprung arrangement. Unfortunately your link have no info on the subject. Do you have any other information or links?

Had a look at a Land Cruiser suspension arrangement today. Should not be to difficult to do so as well.

Collected double cab (bit bent after accident) today. Now the fun starts.

1: Striping of old cab of chassis.
2: Modifying chassis to suit coiled suspension.
3: Fitting 5L diesel motor (Ex Condor) (Condor to get KZTE)
4: Cuttitng of cabs to make new one.
5: Joining of cabs and refitting to chassis.
    6: Fitting SWB load body.
    7: Respray and final fitment.

How long before completion - Time will tell

O Yes, there will be before and after pictures as soon as I find out how to do it.

    Hi C_B,

At the bottom of the reply window, click on 'Manage Attachments'.

There, you can browse to a picture on your computer (preferably jpg) and add it there.

Try the pic of the USA Supercab, let's see if it works for you.

Took some pics today of my SFA project to be. I'm sure none of us like to see a vehicle in such a sad state. Going to start stripping on Thursday. F_D, seems like something you know a lot about.

The white SFA is my other project. just going to sproose her up a bit. Every thing I do on the damaged vehicle such as suspension upgrade, bumpers, rock sliders, I'm going to do to the white one.

Charlie Brown, looks like you're really going to have your work cut out for you! The Hilux is really quite modular, so it is relatively easy to strip down and work on, prior to re-assembly. I think that at the end of the day, you're going to have two very capable vehicles

When do come and fit your 2700i Rader plate for you F_D. That single cab still looks in good shape. Not many of those around any more. Ask me, I've been looking out for one before I decided on the Supercab mod.

    Charlie Brown,

I am definitely in the market for one for the IFS. You're certainly most welcome to come and fit one... Klerksdorp is just around the corner

Does one have to remove it to drain the engine oil?

The SWB was a wreck when I got it, literally falling to pieces, although it had never been in an accident so the chassis is very sound. The bakkie has had a complete strip down & respray, new upholstery throughout, a Condor Bullbar fits perfectly, new propshaft manufactured, gearbox overhauled and a new canopy. I use it for my daily runaround to work, shopping, etc.

So, I can knock on you door when I get stuck. You do not have to remove any plates on the IFS when servicing it.

Some new info on Hi Lux forum.

My Engels is slegs vir huisgebruik, so ek sal maar in Afrikaans gesels!

Dan volg racing seats, racing dash and alluminium pannels binne in. Het ook 16" rally rims en bande raak geloop.

    Hoe klink dit so ver

    Charlie Brown

OKOK fotos sal volg die naweek.
