    Default Camping at ndumo

    Hi.

We want to go camping at Ndumo this December.

If anybody has stayed there recently and is willing to give me some advice on what to expect it will be mush appreciated.

We have not been there since 2008 and since then Ndumo has had alot of bad press, that's my reason for asking.

I have heard things in the park itself is better, but would like to hear from somebody who stayed there about the facilities, pool, ablutions ect.

    Thanks,

Stayed there between Xmas and New Year. Camping facilities were very nice with power & water. Ablutions although 50m from the campsite were spotless, loads of hot water, and even hand towels. It was very nice having the swimming pool as well. In terms of game viewing I would say 2 nights would be enough to see the park. The 4x4 routes are interesting and well worth travelling on - in the wet season they can be tricky. You can also do a drive into Tembe to see the Big 5. The shop at Ndumo is very small so take all your own provisions. Both parks are well worth visiting.

Stayed there last year-camping was fantastic all round-some nice hides at pans, -only sad thing is that their rhino's are also disappearing-good base from which to go to Tembe, Kosi,- and you MUST drive the Eastern Shores road with a stop-and-dip at Lake Sibayi-(nice shallow sandbank so you can see if there are hppo's or crocs about)

Ndumo is more renowned for its bird life than mammals. Just remember that in December you are going to melt!
It has decent camp sites and facilities. One of the better run Ezemvelo camps. Be aware of snakes in summer.
