Default Diff Lock rear axle for Terracan

Being reading Berns thread and got me wondering

I know one can get ARB front difflockers for Terracan at around KR12.

But what about replaceing the rear LSD diff with an upgrade and difflocker.

What and who do I enquire with

    What would be the implications

What would the pricing look like

Would Front and rear lockers improve my current traction as apposed the LSD rear and front lockers

I'm Thinking of going Lexus V8 in 2 years plus front and rear lockers

Should I can the idea and go for a vehicle that has similar capabilities Doubt it as to mod my vehicle should be cheaper that off the shelf with the whistles

Give me your thoughts as I'm very happy with my retirement CAN to be utilised for 4x4ring and fun.

    Much appreciated

Front and rear? What ratios? Gosh this is confusing. electronic or manual? Personally, me thinks this Pajero needs a makeover. why did they not incorporate full lock on the transfer box. Would help in the sport I enjoy

What do you want a locker for I thought that thing would go anywhere

Morton - it might help to search the Pajero forums.

Hey Morton you should try looking at finding out if you can't rather get hold of Pajero Diffs that would perhaps fit on the terracan

Morton how is the hand first of all. Some times the costs of doing this kind of mod far exceeds the expectation that it gives. If you could do some of the stuff yourself it would be an advantage, but as you now only have one hand to use its a no no. There is nothing wrong with what you have , Where do you want to go with all this stuff anyway. You will hardly ever use it. You have as i have said to you many times , are honoured to have horse power and a nice set of 3ply muds will take you and Brigette to kingdom come. You just have to choose the right lines. Once you start fiddling things go wrong(not in all instances) Just fix existing problems and ride. But you can take the CAN to spike and he can cut the top part off and violla!!!! you will have the first TERRACAN CABRIOLE...

He,hee point taken Ian LOUD AND CLEAR. I personally don't like pushing to much horses to gain momentum. I like doing things at leisure hence the diff lock questions. LSD is cool but only as effective if both wheels on the ground. Handbreak does not stop wheels from selecting alternative. As you can recall the first recovery you did for me. Thanx bud appreciate the advice

Morton Hermon does not have a difflock, has similar powered engine to you and look what he does. He has the difflock between his eyes, chooses the line and hits it. You could also do that if you were more mal and a nice bank account.

I WILL TELL YOU FOR THE 100TH TIME HORSEPOWER AND TRACTION AND DIFFLOCK BETWEEN THE EYES and you musnt get out of there the vehicle that cost you an arm and a leg must get you out. Hermon does it in reverse and forward and the vehicle respects its owner now and will do everything for its owner. Just imagine the Terracan doing that. Well it CAN.

    Question Diff lock

I've been to a few trails now, and I saw it once again this weekend: The diff lock makes a big difference to where you can take your vehicle.

    My questions are:
    1. What is the difference between a front & rear diff lock (besides the obvious)?
    2. Which would be the better option... front or rear?
    2. Why would one want to put a diff lock in the front and rear?

    Hi Oli4

    1. They perform the same function, one for the two front wheels and one for the two rear wheels. The front diff lock does have a negative effect on your steering though.

    2. Personally I would go for rear first, but ARB does not provide one for the rear and I know of overseas Terracans with rear diff locks but I could not source the brand etc. The other reasoning is that the Terracan already has decent LSD at the rear and therefore a front diff lock from ARB will improve the overall ability of the car. I've got the ARB front diff lock fitted and works well when needed. But I'm still on the lookout for a full rear diff lock.

    3. If you are planning to do very rough and difficult 4x4 routes the front diff lock can compensate to a degree for the lack of travel of the IFS torsion bar suspension in the front compared to a solid diff suspension in the front. Basically you are guaranteed of traction at all four wheels even when one front and one rear wheel are off the ground.

Fully agree Mike. However why did they not give us the option in ZA We all know that the Can has the inners of the Paj at full lock Damn would have been a real show stopper if they issued the Can with the Paj full lock system. Would have increased the resale value of such a remarkable vehicle Hows Naomie and the trips Sure you doing fine, I hope, he,hee

Gees Mike now that looks awesome. Few things I noticed though. No body lift spacers Are those hubs on the front wheels And the weird snorkel facing backward. Other than that imagine you and I going one step further and locking both front and back. Wish I could show Mark these pics
