I see the thread had gone quiet, any reason, or did SA run out of jobs now that Mandela is in hospital?

    Thanks,
It would be interesting if there were a spreadsheet showing vacanacy and vacancy/filled statistics. I have seen several people that have been helped by this thread.

    Great thread Manny!

Hats off to Manny and a big thumbs up to him for this thread. It shows that we can actually stand together for a change now and then.

I myself have been un(self)employed for around three years now. Not easy when you have worked for yourself for 20years and have absolutely NO qualifications to prove what you can do. You become unemployable

I have not posted here as I have removed myself from civilization and gone to the "platteland". Still worth it to travel to Joburg for the odd job that comes in when I decide if it is worth it or not. A JOB (just over broke) is not going to work for me if I have to travel to Joburg every day (R7000 a month diesel minimum). That puts me on a steep income bracket.

BUT before I go off topic, well done to all that have contributed to this thread (employer and employees alike).

I am posting my CV here hoping for something. I went to an interview for estate manager last night but I was told I am to old. Have been a maintenance/ Estate manager for the last 10 years, before that IT and grew up on a farm where I did a lot of work looking after the farm. The process of looking for work has been ongoing since September last year and I am now finished. Hope somebody can help me

Fred, I have also ben sitting on hot coals for the last 3 weeks. I am supposed to go for a competency test, for a position I applied for, but the guy that has to contact me to arrange it, does not come to light. I got HIS number from the prospective employer today and hope to get things going tomorrow. The stress of waiting for others is sometimes worse than a negative reply !! I'll hold thumbs that you hear soon.
