    Default 2 Day Hike Options

Hi there, not quite sure where to put this but here seems as good a place as any?

We booked part of the Boland Hiking trail this weekend but Cape Nature just called and said they have to cancel due to protest action at Nuweberg. We were very amped and everything is packed already! Needles to say that we are rather muff at the moment.

I am googling high and low but cant seem to find a similar hiking trail. The criteria are as follows:

    2 days
    not too long(14-16kms)
not too taxing (reasonable levels of fitness)
Hiking hut (not luxury camp or accommodation)
Must accept last minute booking (tomorrow)
Not too far from Cape Town (2 Hours drive)

Limietberg route seems to have been changed completely. You now hike from Tweede Tol to Eerste Tol and then sleep over in the camp site. Don't know how well that works for getting away from it all...

There is also the Highlands trail near Kleinmond - this might also work I guess.

Does anyone know of any other hikes that could possibly meet the criteria?

Am rather desperate because this is my last weekend out. After this its baby-focus time and I wont really be able to leave the house.

Another nice overnight trail is out at Hermanus - Fernkloof nature reserve. You can stay in the Galpin hut, we did it as a day hike but is probably better as an overnight hike.

Ended up doing the Boesmanskloof trail from the Greyton side. Thanks Reenen. Was really good. I suffered a lot though. The first few kms from Greyton up till breakfast rock were very steep. You then descend into a gorge and the hike is fairly flat until you get the massive climb right at the end. Was really really tough. Think the boep will have to shrink before I try something like that again.

The second day is much much easier. Even had time to stop off in Greyton for a quick well deserved beer and late breakfast.

The accommodation is good, we stayed at Die Galg. Not your average hikers hut, more a self catering place. The hike could be quite easy if you don't have to carry all your stuff with you. You don't need bedding or cutlery or stoves. You basically need your clothes and food for the first day. You can get the owner of the huts to buy lots of food for you in town and she leaves it in the fridge for you in your hut. Really cool.

    Will post some photos tomorrow.
