Hi folks
I thought I write here an update of this epic trip of Terence Tracey and his co-driver Geoff Biermann.
They left end of March for their trip to Coventry England.
They are driving a Hillman Imp 875 cc
They do not have:
-backup
-much money
-RTT
-Dual Battery sytems
-Fridge
-Raised suspension
-Auxillary tanks
-Water tanks
-Bush showers
-Satellite phone
-A convoy to ride with
-Many contacts enroute
-Fancy shocks
-Fancy tyres
-No winch
-Two way radio
-Large 1st aid supply
-etc, etc
I shows that less is more and you can tackle the road between Marsabit and Moyale in a vehicle like this, with a bit of help of fellow travellers, remember, they encountered this in rainy season.
Personally I did not think they would make it to Pretoria without breaking down.
This shows that Africa can be done on the cheap, without great plans, fantastic vehicles.
A week after leaving, they arrived in Kenya, well done to them.
Terence and Geoff are staying in contact via SMS, they are on SMS roaming and once in a while they use internet where available
here a few links of their blog and facebook pages.
