I simply don't believe the statement that "problems are common". I personally know lots of V6 Autobox drivers and lots of people on this forum also drive them. The problem that Reptile picked up with his is the first 5spd autobox problem that I heard being reported on this forum.

Why dont you send a fax to Dr Van Zyl. This is bloody nonsense. I did that 3 years ago when I could not get a proper answer from the dealer and within days it was sorted out.

I have recently sold my d3 and bought an fj.

I have a small issue and hoping that someone on the forum can assist.

After being stationed at say a traffic light and then accelerating the car thumps into gear.

    All other changes are smooth.

Toyota could not pick up problem.

Does anyone know what the thump is caused by and if it's normal?

Check out "Thump/clunk" thread - its ten to one the common propshaft upgrade that you need. They replace it in under an hour while you wait. Probably have to order the part. Make sure they fit the correct one ("B part").

Imfaurie, read that thread like Agteros said. The light will come on for you.

It feels as if you are driving around with a bowling ball loose in the boot.
