A friend of mine "did" the pass in December with his cruiser and said he didn't understand what all the fuss was about as the road was graded (not a 4x4 grading of 1 - 5). Took him all of 15 minutes to go down.

He must gave driven a different pass, although not a very heavy route, it can certainly not be mistaken for just another graded free state dirt road.

It was beautiful and certainly difficult enough to get me to go to low range and the hill decent control worked overtime.

I only got out three times to check the conditions so no not difficult, just lekker.

    Hello,

I am driving back from the Drakensberg on the 19th to Pretoria, and am considering going up Bezuidenhouts pass. I get very different ideas of how difficult it is, so I guess current road conditions are important. Anyone been up/down there recently? I have a Hilux 4.0 4x4 with raised suspension, but as I am alone and only managed time to do Groenkloof and Baviaans kloof previously I don't think I should go too extreme, but am up and in the mood for a bit of a challenge :-)

    Thanks,
    Johan
