Wow, thanks for all the replys. It's got some big shoes to fill. I love(ed) my Pajero and gave it hell. It in turn gave me years of pleasure in return. With very little front articulation and open diffs it was a challenge to do plenty of obstacles/trails. I now have a vehicle with rear locker and LOT'S of articulation, it's going to be a pleasure
At this stage I really don't know about the Pajero but I am going to list it at a give away price on Gumtree and see what happens.

    Yeah Dave,
I was looking for the 4.2 TD but it has never made the way to be imported into RSA so 4.2 was a bit low on power especially as when towing.
So I resoterd to import one from Japan, got it through an auction (8 years old and 32'000 k on the clock)
    Meanwhile 132 000

Now this engine comes in the bakkie 4.2 TD awesome.

Mind the 3.0L (ZD30) want some attention to the turbo, so maybe put in a EGT gauge (OZ forum) to preserve it from blowing up.

Best of all, it had a brand new turbo fitted by Bosch Diesel about 10 000Km ago As I said, being previously owned by a doctor ... if it has a cough he put it into hospital

Sorry mate, you know how doctors drive their cars? None the less congrats, once the Patrol bug bites, it's very difficult not to scratch!
