    Default Terios II replacement shocks?

I have a 2007 Terios 4x4. After market fitment centers i phoned (Hi Q & Supa Quick) don't have listings for replacement shocks. The agent quoted me R2100 for rear and R1300 for front (excl. VAT). Does anyone know of an after market 'normal' (i.e. Gabriel) shock that fits? I have seen on the forum mention of Pro Comp shocks. Any idea of price? What shocks do the Off-Road Terios use?

Are those prices per shock or a pair fitted?

So far I have not found anybody (Gabriel, Monroe, Koni, Bilstein etc.) that has shocks for the Terios other than Daihatsu themselves.

It seems KYB has shocks for the Terios but Im not certain they are up for SA conditions nor are they freely available here.

A shock expert can easily measure and build shocks for the Terios but none of their suppliers are prepared to guarantee their products under the SA Consumer Protection Act. IE nobody is prepared to sell me built up shocks.

Effectively Daihatsu has a monopoly on Terios shocks.

Having said this, the rear shock is replacable with a Pro-comp shock that the supplier seems to guarantee under the CPA. There are 2 models to choose from. Im not certain, but you are looking at about R1400 per shock fitted.

Ive had a offer from PTA Offroad Accessories (They also fit the Terios Pro-comps see www.waytag.com/!PtaOffrA ) to see if they can build an Ironman front shock for me. Im hoping to take them up on their offer sometime.

The Terios Offroad gets the exact same shocks as the standard 4x4.

thanks dieOrg. the prices quoted are per shock fitted, which seems a bit steep...

Unfortunately that is what Daihatsu charges, their warranty (20k or 1 year vs 2 years 60k+) is also inferior - I was quoted R5k for 2 front shocks fitted.

Sorry I could not be of more help.

Why not research Toyota Avanza? It is a Daihatsu with a Toyota badge. The shocks may just fit the Terios. Weight wise the two vehicles should be the same and they even use the same engines.

    Worth a try.

Has anyone perhaps found a solution to replacement shocks for a Terios? The dealers now quote me R3400 per front shock!

Both Monroe and Gabriel seem to be listing Terios front and rear shocks in their catalogs?

SMALL PROBLEM ON THE REAR.If I recall correctly a Nissan E20 aftermarket rear shocks are the same thing at a fraction of the cost.
All you have to do is modify the bush on the one end (hole size) I did this by fitting aftermarket Teflon bushes
Just take a sample to your closest spare shop and dont tell them its a Terios
    Hope this helps
