    Unhappy Missing Jeep parts CJ7

Hi everyone, we are busy building a CJ 7 - http://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/...ferrerid=52272

We were supposed to go to the guy today to look for some missing parts but he has re-scheduled, this has happened a few times! So my question is can anyone help source some of our missing parts? or does anyone know of any alternative solutions or even someone who can help.

here is our list, and our deadline has already come and gone...

    1. Skid plate for petrol tank

    2. 1 x Bonnet release handle

    3. Steering column and tyre rods (i have the wheel)

    4. All our levers (indicators etc)
    5. We are missing loads of nuts and bolts, anyone have any spare or know where we can buy or match up metric with imperial?
    6. Radiator (I think x 2) we think there should also be a radiator for the gearbox?
    7. Our side mirrors
    8. The actual glove box, we have the door of it but as is what ever you put inside would land on your feet.
    9. 1 x windscreen wiper

    10. the auto gear lever (it's an automatic)
No idea what it looks like or where it mounts? maybe on the steering?
    11. a roof, of any kind would be nice, we would prefer a soft top but at this stage I'd take/buy anything

    * does anyone know if early wrangler soft tops fit CJ7's? I have read online that they can...?
it would help as there are a lot more 2nd hand wrangler tops around

Also anyone know a good place to buy a battery and windscreen?

the guy who I bought it from was going to make me up a Roll bar, we have the specs, and side steps and make a replacement front bumper since it is missing. he may not come through with all of this so if anyone can help with these parts too that would be awesome

We are so over budget and over our time limit so we would be so grateful for any help!

Unfortunately we are going to have to add a lot more to this list - namely the engine! whilst draining the oil a lot of water came out the gasket blew and it is pretty bad inside, pistons finished and block no good, so much rust

a mate has a Ford essex V6 3L I can use but we will still need a lot!

    Hey Tim

Will help you out with the oil cooler for the transmission.
We have a used aftermarket one from the XJ we stripped that you can have for gratis
Sure we can make that one work.

We also need to find the Buick V6 engine mounting bracket, unless we try and make one up.

you can get everything you need from www.4wd.com and www.discountjeepparts.com, I got most of my stuff from there when I did my CJ6.
    you can also try www.rockauto.com

In SA you can try Pretoria Offroad.

I got most of my bolts as a kit from 4wd.com, but an bolt and nut supplier should be able to supply the right imperial bolts.

The bonnet catched you can buy at midas.

Personally I prefer the VARTA range of batteries, I use the exact same one as the one in my WJ.

If you import mirrors, remmember it will most probably be for a left hand drive, so you might have to modify the arms a bit...

i bought my cubby hole box (plastic) from one of the sites, was something like R180, if I had to do it again I would just make one myself, the one I bought is really too small to be usefull...

it depends on what you use for shipment, UPS, fedex etc can be within a week, but if you go the cheaper USPS route (usually about half the price) you will be looking at around 3 weeks.
And sometimes if customs has a query it can sit for a looong time, doesnt happen often though...

I saw a roof a while ago on Junkmail. We tend to forgot that the prices on Junkmail is a lot better than on Gumtree or OLX.

we found an engine a straight 6 AMC 4L out of an jeep Cherokee with a little more than a hundred thousand km's on it, seems will fit our gearbox and then we are just modifying the intake manifold from fuel injection to carb. Hopefully fitting it all on Friday
We got a soft top too.

we are making awesome Progress but one thing we haven't been able to track down in is a steering column with the controls. We have the tyre rods and the steering wheel.
    can anyone help?

While we on the manifold subject. We had the discusion on the carb setup but does anyone know if the 4l and the 4.2l Rambler motors can use the same manifold?

If so lets swop and you have a bolt on solution.
