Default How much are people paying for 4x4 insurance?

How about a list of what we are paying for our 4x4 insurance?
Then we can all get an idea of what we are paying and what we COULD be paying?

I'm sure that I saw Heritage Edition written on the back of a HiAce the other day.

Remember that there are several factors that will determine the value of your vehicle. Some of these include:

    1. The type of vehicle and its risk profile
    2. Your age
    3. How long you have had your driver's licence
    4. Your previous insurance and claims history (uninsured losses are also a factor)
    5. The area where you stay (where the vehicle is kept)
    6. The use of the vehicle
    7. Parking arrangements for the vehicle
Other factors to consider are whether your broker (assuming you use one) places all their business with a single Insurer or underwriter, or whether they use a number of different Insurers.

Also keep in mind that some Insurers will not only base your rate on your and your vehicle's risk profile, but also on the profile of your broker (brokers with better loss ratios and bigger portfolios may get better rates). How hard your broker negotiates (fights) for a better rate is also
    a factor.

the other thing to remember is that the real cost of insurance is only realised when you have to claim...

Mmmmmm. Plenty of insurance companies would love to see this thread with many many posts.

I can't remember offhand what I pay for my TuffStuff insurance but it by far the cheapest insurance I have ever had and by far the best service on top of that.

I don't think I will do my yearly shopping for cheaper quotes again. I'll just stick with TS!

2006 Hilux 4.0 4x4 D/C with R40,000 extras specified on TuffStuff policy. Moved from M&F last year - Besides a windscreen, I never claimed during the 25 odd years with M&F.

I have excess waiver (age = 48 ) and the premium with TuffStuff is R551 pm for the Hilux which includes the specified items for R40,000 - no tracker. Although the monthly premium on the Hilux was slightly less with M&F, I did not have excess waiver nor were the extra's specified. The overall premium for house, 3 vehicles, bike, off-road caravan etc. is less with TuffStuff. I suppose one also need to take into account the portfolio you insure as this would surely be different to someone insuring only his 4x4 for example.
