Default FAC Cape Town Guys, 29th March

Owen, your DJeep has changed plenty since I last saw it, why don't you organise a trip and lets see what the Friday Aavie club guys can do with a few loose rocks here and there I will organize better prices with Wally, his left arm rubber broke last time it was twisted so much so this time we twist his right arm

Just spoke to Walters - space open for that weekend - looks like we might have to go try that little hill.

Ja, jy sal dit heel moontlik maak met die JK. Hoe gaan ons Frans oorreed om sy nar kar daarheen te vat? Hy sal dit beslis maak.

At what stage do you need a "bigger" driver's licence? I remember something like 3.5t GCM?

only if the vehcile is over 3500kg GVM.

the Jeep is 6050 GCM (I think) and perfectly legal at that weight with an EB provided the trailer complies.

insanely, I have a licence to drive a 14500kg truck, but I can only tow a 750kg trailer if the tow vehicle is over 3500kg

    I didn't make the rules...

My licence is a B, so I can only tow a 750kg trailer I believe? I can't for example tow your trailer with Gunhogs clown car even if the car I'm driving could. I should probably upgrade if I'm going to be driving something bigger than a Jimny.

correct. plain B is only up to 750kg trailer.

I must check, but if you do an EC1 I think you can drive anything up to 14000kg with a trailer rated for the vehcile.

pain in the bottom - you have to do the test WITH a trailer. which is proabbly a total pain.

I was pretty proud of myself on Saturday - I don't tow much like I used to - out of practice - but I reverse parked that big trailer (8m long and 2.6 wide) in a VERY tight spot in one hit - and better than most people can park an Uno.

was within the lines, I have to admit it was a bit skew though...

hhmm I will have to go with a spade and make a few more cross axles

You have 35s on the rubicon? Pretty sure it will make it.

the Trailer will pull what's left of gunhog's TJ, (I think only the tub and chassis remain as simialr to what left the factory) plus the modifications (all the rest) , on the way there.

    coming back, who knows

between us we should be able to afford the petrol...

Jip, only the river. It's clean water so no problem.
