    Default vehicles for research needed

    Hi All

We need two vehicles for research projects. One is a 1 tonne diesel 4x2 bakkie with canopy for Robben Island Bank Kormorant project value around R50k. Must be diesel as that is the only fuel on the island

one 4x4 singlecab / twincab / extended cab vehicle for a brown hyena project in the Kalahari.

Both vehicles driven by ADU young ladies http://adu.org.za

Please message me if you have any leads for reliable good vehicles. The vehicles can be in either CT or JHB / Pta so we can look at them with ease

    Cheers Tim

Won't a diesel scare the birds & hyenas away? Especially Isuzu KBs

Not sure but a good question i will bring up on the next Nature Journal, as far as i remember they had an eradication program on non-indigenous critters

I seem to recall that they were overpopulated & ate everything they could. Then when the food ran short, the rabbits went carnivore & even started on the birds.

about two years ago Cape Nature and i think Sanparks became unpopular when an eradication order was passed for rabbits, guinea fowls, fallow deer etc

Would a quad bike not be better for the island? Or do they have to carry a big load?

    Tim,

Are you still looking for a vehicle for the Kalahari Project? In how much of a hurry are you?

I have a vehicle that you may be interested in.
