They go into the rivet hole and are tightened to pull the sheets together to allow for riveting.

I don't know if they still exist anymore, but there used to be a company at Rand Airport called USATCO who sold all the sheetmetal tooling.

Builders seem to be having a special on the Eclipse range of G Clamps in various sizes.
I got the 75mm/3" and 100mm/4", very high quality, similar to the old Record G clamps
    Eclipse 100mm/4" G-Clamp - R120

    https://www.builders.co.za/Tools-%26...hoCfs4QAvD_BwE

The image they are using is incorrect, they look like the clamp in the link below:

I am a member of a WhatsApp group where a few guys gather to discuss their ongoing projects, mostly motorcycles and related stuff.
One of the guys posted this picture...

to the thread and asked if anyone was interested, and I put my hand up only to be told it had been taken by one of the other guys. It was the owner's son selling off all his late Dad's stuff after his death from cancer.

It turned out that my mate had passed on it as it was too small, so he approached the seller to ask if he would hold it in reseve for me as I was still recovering from my neck operation, and the seller agreed.

I made contact with the seller and we came to a tentative agreement on price, depending on condition. Last Friday, myself and my mate went out to the old guy's house to have a shufti at said lathe and for my mate to collect some other stuff he had bought.

I pronounced the lathe acceptable tome and while we were unbolting it from the floor, the seller asked me if I had any use for an old microscope, and being a dedicated collector of stuff, I naturally accepted. My mate was busy in the garage next door and I wandered over to see what was possibly drool worthy in there, and stumbled upon this beauty on a workbench...

I'm not sure why it's lying down, though, but it is vertical in real life.
Naturally, it was added to the list of goodies accompanying the lathe.

Not long after, the seller arrived with a box that made me nearly wet myself, and asked if I was interested in it.
Do bears do their thing in the woods?? Hell YES, I was interested....
    So, this....

So, all the goodies got loaded in my mate's van and we scarpered with my stuff and my Mate's Rockwell thicknesser, plane and spindle moulder that accompany his previously bought table sander.

Yesterday, armed with a few cans of Q20, I set to work unpacking and oiling all the accessories that came with the late, some of which are VERY badly corroded...

The plan is to use electrolysis to remove the corrosion and then establish what is worth keeping and what needs replacing.

The lathe will be cleaned thoroughly and inspected pending repainting and any require repairs, beginning when I get back from work in a few weeks time.

JohnnoK I was kindly gifted this fixed milling adapter for the Myford ML7 by Robbief on this very forum some months back. Despite my best desire I cannot really use it on my lathe, it belongs on a Myford, and that is where it should stay… If you are interested I’ll gladly hand this over to you, just need to figure out how to get it to Cape Town…
