Broken Rear Axle??

Hi Mitsu Fans!

Has anyone ever heard of, or better yet experienced a complete rear axle failure on their Colt where the axle breaks off completely right next to the diff??

I have heard from my uncle he's seen a Colt now a few weeks back where that happened.

Then a few years back, on a close friend's parent's Colt the same thing happened.

This is becoming scary...

Any ideas/comments?

never heard of this on the Colts. I know the new( 2007 +) Cruiser 70 series have weak solid axles though.
