Default Faces of the Namib or Lüderitz to Walvis Bay trip

    Hi,

Has anyone done both of these trips? Which would you recommend?

We have booked for the Faces of the Namib for the 22 Sept but now we are told we cannot go on thoughts dates anymore. Two other dates where given for the Faces of the Namib and the option to do the Lüderitz to Walvis Bay trip on the 23rd Sept.

I was keen on the Faces of the Namib trip first as it is shorter and then do the Lüderitz to Walvis Bay trip later. But now I need to choose?

Which would you do? I have not done either?

Faces !!, Luderitz - Walvis is maybe worthwhile to do but once only, but will do the faces a few times.

Faces is a bit off everything and some dune riding. Luderitz -Walvis is much the same everyday, and some dunes the last day.

I do agree on the faces trip but I do not remember the Luderitz trip being only dunes on the last day You must have done a different trip.....

Luderitz trip is six days of dunes......way more dunes than faces!

If you wanna do lots of dunes do Luderitz. If you want to see all the "faces of the Namib" with much less dunes do faces.

For my trip report on Luderitz trip see: http://4x4community.co.za/forum/show...ighlight=Namib

I did the Faces last year in July (2012) and fpund that a really great experience. The name faces is derived from the "chnage in the face of the Namib". From grasslands in the east to dessert dunes to costal dunes. What an experience.

Some of om my friends did the Luderitz / walvisbay one and going to do their second or third.

Saying that i think it is unfair to try tp compare the 2. The are totally different and perhaps the answer is to do both....

Okay, September is not too far off and I have some final arrangements. Is anyone else going in 8 Sept?

After the dunes I would like to travel from Walvisbaai upwards to Darmaland and I would appreciate any assistance anyone can offer of places to stay, places to see and things to do. Places to stay I would prefer bush camp sites.

Then I wonder in anyone can help me as I just cannot seem to find the place. I saw a picture of two 4x4 driving on a river bed between to mountain rocks in Namibia and it was green. I think it is in Darmaland but it looked very peaceful. There was water in the river but very little. Apparently you can camp on the river bed. I know this is a far shot but I know I saw this photo and I think it was in Driveout. Well if you find it I would like to know how to get there. After the Dunes I will have 2 weeks to tour Namibia and would to explore as much as budget allows.

Appreciate all help. If you have some pics of your trip please would you post them.

Thanks Francois, this trip is on my bucket list. I'm going to book for next year!
I already have fuel capacity of 150L with my auxilliary tank as well as a 50L water tank. Might as well put it to good use.

Did "Faces" last year and it provided the most exhilarating and terrifying experiences I have yet experienced in my Hilux. "Playing" in a "muisgat" will never be forotten !

Hi Bulletjie. I cannot wait!! The problem is that there are so many places to see in Namibia and after the tour where do I go? I have never being for holiday in Namibia but it seems like one of the places is Etosha and then from there I will work my way slow back. I have bought a few magazine and books regarding Namibia and the problem is the more I read the more realize my time 2 weeks is going to far to little experience the Namibia. But that is okay, it will just mean I will need to go again.

Yes, you are correct. That photo was on the Drive Out. If possible I would like to do that as well.
