Default New Ranger - Mud in Brakes

I came back from a trip in Namibia and Botswana last week with my new Ranger 2.2. Performed very well, but when I took it in for a service they told me my brake shoes and drums were damaged by mud.

I'm not sure whether this is a general problem or specific to the vehicle. Should I open up and clean my brakes every time I drive in mud/deep water?

Good question. Think this is the problem with mud. Nice to play in, but difficult to clean. This this might affect most vehicles with drums at the back.

Yes, and not only the brakes, check all the universals, cv's etc.

mud gets in and ultimately acts as grinding paste, lekker to play in, but not good for the vehicle at all.

Unfortunately this is a general problem with drum brakes and also disc brakes to a lesser extent. Nothing to do with a specific brand.

That is very normal. Just make sure the shoes have enough linings on them. Otherwise, no worries.

Mud is a real problem with espesialy brakes. I try and keep out of it as much as I can. Water is not n problem. When we had a lot of rian in Hoedspruit and I did mud driving for a few days my brakes where gone. They get between the linings and drums and disks and pads and just grind them away. But this was contant thick mud.
