I know where you are talking about, last time we were up there (about a month ago) there were 3 or 4 vehicles driving around up there. I don't think they were there in any kind of "official" capacity as we saw them still in convoy closer to magalies when we were on our way home.

So last week Friday I took off from work as it was my Birthday

Decided to do the Harties cable car (as it is free on your Birthday, and I am cheap).

Then Decided to take the scenic route. Now I don't own a 4x4, my dad owns them all. And also I don't own a petrol station, so did not want to use the Discovery that I have parked at my place.

A few months ago, my dad bought a brand new Suzuki Sx4 auto non 4x4 version. So decided to use this. Got it from him & its just ticked over 600 KM on the clock.

Headed out on Friday and the temp showed 3 Degrees.

Eventually got to the turn off for this Breed's Nek Pass, the GPS said turn right onto road (4x4 only).

The start was an easy going dirt road, Passed a guy driving a tractor, He looked at me funny. Then an Amorok came past me.

The road started getting a bit rough as we started climbing, I just took it easy, and chose my lines correctly.

Then got to the bad section, Got out and walked it, noticed a massive oil spill from someone smashing their sump, and thought maybe this is not a good idea. But carefully selected my line, and made it through without single scratch or bump under the car.

So its a lekker little route to take, very scenic, but not that difficult at all, any car with some clearance will make it.

obviously this would be very different in the rain

Did it in a 2004 Subaru Outback a year ago. Quite passable then. My son was the elated driver.
