Default Benton Battery Charger BX1 - suitable?

    Happy Friday, folks!!

I have a Suzuki Marauder that I only ride on occasions and, as a result, the battery runs down many times between rides.

My trusty old battery charger is now telling me that the battery is kaput, but I had a look around the forum and found some recommendations for the Benton chargers.

On the iWarehouse website, it says the BX1 charger can "... automatically diagnose and rescue drained batteries; it can even recover slightly sulphated batteries."

Does anyone have any experience in using the BX1 charger, especially on batteries that have been seriously and repeatedly drained, and are they any good at recovering batteries?

    Much appreciate any advice/recommendations...
I'd rather be fishing, camping or brewing beer...

    Hi

Been using my BX 1 for 6 years now, never had a hassle. You can order from forum member Family_Dog.

    jip GOOD buy !

The BX2 is better for a 2nd battery as it can charge at 7A. But for "maintaining" the charge of a battery on a vehicle that is not driven regularly the BX1 is GOOD.

    Eric...thanks, I got your PM...

    Final question....(hopefully)...ok, two questions...

Will the BX2 be better for trying to salvage a battery that hasn't been used for a while and might have sulphated? I suppose there's no guarantees that the battery can be salvaged?

There are no guarantees but if the battery's life can be extended somewhat, then the BX-2 is the charger to go for. It usually produces the desired result by extending the life of a 'recoverable' battery by anything from 6 months to a year.

    Hello Steven,

How does your battery charger tell you that your battery is flat?

Have a look a this Victron Energy Battery Monitor You Tube Video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JO8AGV4Z7K0

How big is you Battery in A/H and is it a sealed battery?

    regards,

    Andre
