I have the complete opposite! I have to leave the black cover on.....go figure!

Hi all,
I recently purchased a Disco 4 for my wife, and had a Frontrunner towbar fitted (the Disco 3/4's standard towbar is too low for the Companion in offroad conditions).
Now, after fitment of the towbar, I had no issues with the warning sensors at the back when reversing, ie. they stay off when there is nothing behind me. However, subsequently I put a rubber cover on the towbar ball, and since then, whenever you reverse, the warning buzzers come on, even with nothing behind the vehicle. Take the cover off, and everything normal again.
How do these sensors work, and could it be that the reflection from the black cover is causing some issues?
Thanks

Jeez, mine complains without any cover so perhaps I should tray a plastic cover. It'll really be funny if that works....

Hi all, Good luck I know the frustration!! I had the same issue with the Front Runner towbar , I just gave up as the wife was very unhappy about the whole towbar issue, Have a look at this towbar http://www.g4outdoor.co.za/Products/discovery_4.html It works well and so far I am very happy with it.
Only works on the 3 and not on the 4.
This is the biggest gripe I have with Lani. At random the PDC just screams and other times no issues. Will try and remove the cover and see if it makes a difference, maybe I must try and remove the whole ball and see what happens.
It will also be nice when the front PDC starts to be beep that the camera switches automatically to the front cameras.
