I would try and PM Henri on the forum and ask who and what he suggests.

If someone can get a message to Walter, please send him Dick Sharpe's number in Katima. Dick will do a recovery from that area, or will know someone who can.

    His number is +081 128 8549

That's a helluva place to break down! It's at least a 2 day recovery from there to Katima, plus the time it take to get up there.

Chirundu to Zambezi is 2 days (800+ km), so you'd be there next Friday at the earliest, Henri. Katima by Sunday (earliest), back to SA the following Tuesday (earliest). Damn, you like these long distance rescues, Henri!!

I still think Dick is the go-to man for this one.

Ok. My message got through to Walter.

Sounds like he has tried some Zambian guys, but they seem to want his kidneys as well.

I am going to try and make some other plan. I might just organise a lift on an empty abnormal, heading South. Then he must just try and get to Solwezi and then get it from Gauteng, to Gabarone. It does sound like he wants to try and tow on the tar sections, to shorten the recovery bit.

But let me see what I can arrange, when the sun is up.

Ok. Walter says that it is all tar from Zambesi to Solwezi. So they will be leaving for Solwezi, in about 2hrs.

But he says they will be taking it very slow, Probably 50-60km/h. That Patrol, without an engine, will be a bastard to stop and steer without any engine running.

So my guess is that they will probably either make it very late tonight, or sleep somewhere on route.

This is where the community aspect of www.4x4community.co.za comes into play

First class response. And once more, Henri's forum title is justified.
