    Default FJ Cruiser - Interesting Facts (Useless Information)

    Both the FJC and Prado are manufactured by Hino Motors in the Hamura Plant Japan.

    Quote from Hino website: "We also produce Toyota-badged vehicles on commission, including the popular sport-utility vehicle, the Land Cruiser Prado; the FJ Cruiser; Dyna trucks; and Toyoace commercial vehicles".

    Quote = "The Prado’s rated at 202kW/381Nm and FJ at 200kW/380Nm. RGM’s Prado supercharger upgrade swells peak rotational force from 381 to 540Nm while boosting power to 326kW".

Moet die enjin se druk verlaag as jy so hard boost.

    Ek wonder watse diesel enjinveranderings (by Toyota) gaan kom met die dat daar nou samewerking tussen BMW en Toyota is , te meer as jy kyk na die Mini's in die Dakar wat so uitstekend gedoen het met hul ( ek praat onder korreksie ) BMW twin turbo diesel enjins .
    Ek persoonlik het 'n BAIE sagte plek vir 'n "wakker" diesel enjin . Kom ons bespiegel bietjie , wat sou julle sê van so 'n enjin ( soos hierbo genoem ) in die FJ !!!!. Manne , ek sou twee maal kyk !! Die wringkrag op so 'n enjin maak dat dit 'n baie lekker sleep voertuig is . Persoonlik dink ek die huidige 3.0 D4D gaan nie genoeg poeier hê vir 'n voertuig soos die FJ nie . Kom Toyota , verras ons bietjie !!!!

    Bastian onthou die FJ is in die omgewing 300-400kg ligter as die Prado so moontlik is die D4-D nie 'n slegte opsie nie?

    Die feit dat FJ soveel ligter as die Prado is maak dat dit nie so onmoontlik lyk nie , sal net baie graag wou sien hoe vaar 'n 150+ kw diesel in FJ !!!!. Dit tesame met die beter brandstof verbruik , manne dan't jy 'n lekker kar !

    D4d= 120kw 400nm
    V6= 200kw 380nm

    'N 4 silinder diesel sal nie by die V6 se syfers uitkom nie.

    Hope I am not hijacking this thread,just saw this on the web.
    TRD's FJ Cruiser is one hard-core 4x4

    We usually associate TRD with warmed up compact sedans, hatches and coupes, but this latest product of the Toyota performance division takes a far more rugged path.

    Set to tower above all the low-riding muscle cars at the SEMA aftermarket show in Las Vegas next week, the FJ-S is more than just a fancy show piece - they've actually upgraded the chassis and body structure to handle even tougher terrain.

    This was done through what TRD calls an underbody 'exoskeleton', which adds all the necessary strength needed for some serious suspension modifications and the fitment of 17-inch TRD Midnight Black alloys clad in menacing BFGoodrich All-Terrain rubber.

    Suspending these tekkies is a set of Bilstein racing shocks, measuring 60mm in the front and 50mm at the back. The exterior package is rounded off by a nudge bar up front and a set of rock rails.

    Regardless of what terrain you subject it to, it's going to have quite a bite waiting under the right pedal thanks to TRD's supercharging package that increases the power to 257kW and torque to 460Nm. It should sound the part too, thanks to a custom cat-back exhaust.

    And just so you can feel its specialness once aboard, the FJ-S has been decked out with a two-tone leather seat treatment (complete with FJ-S logos) and bespoke floor mats.

    Am I correct in saying that having traction control in low-range (A-TRAC) as on our FJ's is actually better than having a locker front and rear?

    My reasoning: a locker front and rear is good if you are travelling in a straight line BUT when you go sideways or have to turn wheels you are "binding up" the drive train and then A-TRAC come into its own since you get power where you need it and your driveability is unaffected??

    If I am correct why would you then need lockers if you have A-TRAC?

    Looks to me they can work together:

    "Actually the 08's came with the ECU that allowed both the rear locker and ATRAC to work together. Toyota started producing FJ's with the combined feature on or about November 1, 2006. The VIN number (for the 2007 model year) would have been around 53,000. I purchased mine on October 12, 2006 (VIN number 43941) with production date listed as September 2006. Therefore, it doesn't have this feature; although I could perform the hack."

    From FJC forum.
