    Default Congo --> Angola Routing

Does anyone knows, if it is possible to drive from Cabinda to Matadi to M`banza and using an shorter way like the red arrow shows here?

On my detail study with Bing/Google Satellite Image Service there seems to be a way (http://binged.it/Qn7yaE). In what conditions is the road? And also important: is there a way to get the carnet stamped?

    Thanks for help!

    Cool

    Hi,

If you have a visa, you can cross at Matadi, otherwise forget it.

From this side, you never get a visa at the border or at a diplomatic representation en route from Europe, you have to get it either in Switzerland if Angola has a representation, otherwise in another European country (France or Belgium, I do not remember).

Anyway, you will get then only a 5 days transit Visa.

Other options to skip Angola by road are more or less not do-able, the track (it is not road) from Kinsasha to Lubumbashi needs 5 to 7 weeks (if your car is not swallowed from the mud) for 2,000 k.

Next option (I met in Maun Sweedes last April, they did it), ship your rig in a container from Accra (Ghana) to Walvis Bay, US $ 1,800 eight days.

    Cheers..

    Thanks for your suggestions

We will start with every Visa - on our route - also the Angola one *fingercrossed*

We can get the angola Visa as last one, because they are only usable for a short time. But the embassy has signalised, that we can get them.

As ive written on your blog,
by the T4A maps for all countries south of the equator,
including Angola, you won't need anything else,
except may be a road map of Johannesburg, Pretoria or Cape Town.

For Angola you can contact Wouter from T4A personally,
    hes done that country extensively.

    Question

    Hello,

In addition to T4A, I have the Garmap Sub Saharian Streetmaps, which give a pretty good coverage from Senegal to SA and then on the Eastern side to Kenya..

They give only what they call "gravel and tar", but for the countries north of Namibia, due to the general state of the road networks, it is probably enough, unless you want to drive secundary roads....

I had the same in Mongolia, there are so few roads that even most very small and bad tracks were on Garmin's World Map !!

    Cheers..

Thank you much for your suggestions!

The garmin worldmap is really good, only bad thing is - she isnt for routing.

I`m now on the details of our route, with Openstreetmaps, T4A, the worldmap and with the help of bing and googe. I post on the different categorys - when hope for help in a special section.
