Is there a beeping sound as well or just buzzing?

It might be that the speaker that is supposed to be beeping is stuffed and instead of beeping, its buzzing now.

Speakers are fine , there's no beeping sound.
The buzzing sound only goes away ,once the key has been removed from the ignition.

It should be beeping. When my key is in my ignition, it beeps if the driver door is open. If I pull it out, it's gone.

I'm not talking about your radio speakers, I'm talking about a small speaker like the old pc speakers that generate that beeping sound. It might be faulty.

I thought about disconnecting the speaker maybe, but never got around to looking for it and then stripping the dash or where ever it might be.

I just yank out the key as quickly as I can to avoid hearing the beeping.

I've heard people say to put a blob of silicone over the speaker. That will dampen the sound of it.

OK, ,I had a look and it only buzzes with the key is in the ignition and the door is open .

Surely there has to be a quick fix ?

That confirms your speaker thingy is faulty. Them suppose to beep. hehehe.

I dunno. Keep the key in, try and locate the speaker then cut one wire. Its what I would do.
