    Default Building a Powered Paraglider

    Hi there

I am looking into building a powered paraglider with a two seater trike. Problem is getting hold of a good engine that is not too expensive. Rotax is out of the question. Looking at the 1000cc Toyota Yaris of Suzuki Swift engines. But there are very few of them available.

Does someone know of any other cheaper options?

Think you can use an VW Kombi 1600 or 2100 motor aswell, with a few modifications!

I think anything bigger than a 1000cc will be too heavy...

What about BMW GS1200 motorbike engine? Used worldwide in microlights and even some microlights built specifically for the BM engine. I would look at that option seriously.

    I agree with Glenn.

I’d rather look at a motorcycle engine. It should provide much better power:weight, and is more ‘self contained’, and ligher in general.
