    Default Roof rack Ladder

    Roof rack Ladder
I have spent the last three weeks camping in Botswana and after pulling myself on and off the roof rack 2 or 3 times a day I realise that I need a ladder!!
What I was thinking of was a short ladder, about 1,5m, that would clip onto the rack and the base would have two short arms at right angle to the ladder with rubber feet that would butt onto the side walls of a rear wheel. The weight would be borne by the roof rack and the wheel would keep the ladder off the bodywork and stable.
Any idea if this sort of thing is available, and if not, where I could source one??

    Default Roof rack ladder

    Hi,

We have also searched for a ladder and couldn't find it anywhere.
We used the ladder of our portable swimming pool, made a few adjustments and there you go. Try your big stores, like Makro, Game etc. Hope this will help.

Contact SarelF, maybe he can bring one to market.
I have seen these before, not sure who manufactures them though.

Just wanted to reply. See you also in centurion. I had a bag made that the ladder fits in. The bottom portion of the bag I had padded, so I put the ladder in upside down. When I want to use it the bag stays over the top part and it can be put up against the car without the ladder scratching the car.

That sounds a nifty idea. I was just thinking that a 2m ladder may be too short by about 10cm and scratch dent the car, and that the 3+ meter ladder is overkill. What length did you get? And maybe possible to come have a look and test against my jalopy?

I have the 2metre one and you are more than welcome to pop around. I am in Doringkloof quite close to supersport park.

Just to document the result here: 2m ladder is *just* too short for a Fortuner with a FrontRunner roofrack. This without after-market suspension.
The ladder would have to lean against the vehicle itself.
If the roofrack extended a bit more to the side it would work, But adding any lift to the vehicle would cause the ladder to be too short again.

Thanks for having me over, Louis
Nifty ladder though - I may look at getting the next longer one.

We took an extendable 0ne 2.6M with us on our trip, worked out really well, fits in the car, was just the right length and we found a lot of uses for it , like hanging the shower bag high up, getting Jerry cans off the roof and a few other things.

I was also thinking about the in-between 2.6m ladder - will go have a loof at them some time.

Pleasure Roelof. Great to put a face to the voice that supported me often many moons ago.
Come to think of it the 2.6 might even be a better option for me as well.
What is the price on that ladder?

Hmmm Adendorff's list only 2m and 3.8m. I'll keep my eyes open.

    Thanks, Stranger.
I meant they don't list the 2.6m on their website, but good to know they have them in-shop
