Default Trails and Drive in and around Dbn

    Hi guys

Sems to be a major shortage of trails and interesting drives and trails to do in and around Dbn. Or maybe theyre just well kept secrets?

In short, are there some trasils/routes to drive on a sunday in the area, some challenging, some not so? I know of one in the shongweni area, but I'd like to believe there's mopre to do in the area!!!

    Hi Brendan,

The one at Shongweni would be Killarney 4x4, it is a nissan training course. it has some easier sections and some more challenging ones.
There is also High Stakes at Cato Ridge, more a series of obstacles than a trail, but fun never the less.
I suggest you get in touch with the 4x4 club at www.4wdkzn.co.za
    also see this post http://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/...ead.php?t=6923

    Hi Kippie

You seem to know the area...
A few years ago I did a route ( forgot the name ) in Natal. The route is through sugar plantations with a little training facility in the middle. Ifafi or Ifafa or something if I remember correctly. They were also developing a nice fishing area in a dam on the actula farm with little boats and a picnic area more to the one side. Can you maybe assist with a name and contact details. I would love to do it again and take the family with!

    Thanks and regards

I know everyone likes shongweni trail, there is a nice one around marrian hill area, I've only done it once, lots of winching and snatching was necessary, but it was the rainy season.

Have you got us a location and contact details of the trail owner Bob? Always looking for new places to go.

Ranger 1, this is the one you were looking for. I didn't think the Tuckers trail was challenging enough, and neither was there enough variation. Nice picnic area next to the dam.

I have to be carefull here, it's not an official trail, it goes through rural low cost housing. But we still do it. I think we need to put a date together to have fun.

Will do just need to involve someone who knows the trail a little better.

I have done this trail, was not that impressed and preferred the shongweni river route. If you go I may be able to get people who know it well. The time I went it was very dry and very overgrown.

The other concern is because you travel through a rural village there are a lot of little kids following you, I don't like this because you have security issues, always make sure you vans are locked if not in them and if you hit one (by accident) there maybe a problem.

If I allowed that type of thing to rule my life, hell, I wouldn't leave the house!....

Serious though, if we're more than one vehicle it's normally not a problem.

Sorry for the semi hijack, but just wanted to say thanks to Sakkie and all the others for a great day out doing the Shongweni River route recently. I had a great time. I can safely say the bug has bitten.

Please guys if you are organising another outing and there is space, count me in.

PS I was in the s/c hardbody at Shongweni.
